SteelSeries is looking for a senior software engineer to help develop world class gaming products. We are looking for someone that can make a huge impact on our product development, has experience architecting and developing desktop and web applications, and has a serious passion for technology and product development.
Why should you work here:
-
Love what you do - This isn't some B2B app or SaaS targeted at an industry you have no real interest in. This is a consumer product for gamers and part of the gaming industry. If you are interested in consumer electronics, gaming, or something related - you will love it here.
-
Many cool technical problems to solve - The software group is small and rapidly growing. This is a ground floor opportunity and you will be able (and expected) to architect software from scratch.
-
Make an impact - We are a small company, so if you like being able to make an impact on a daily basis - this is your place.
-
Be part of Product Development - We are a flat organization and everyone has chances to see how consumer electronics products are built and what goes into bringing them to market. Whether you are in packaging, software, sales, support, or category management your feedback is welcomed and taken seriously.
What we are looking for in our Software Engineers:
-
Strong experience with multiple languages like C#, Java, C, C++, and Objective-C,
-
Experience with languages like Ruby, Python, and Clojure,
-
Experience in windows development – developing both desktop applications and services to communicate with devices and web services,
-
Working knowledge of front-end web technologies such as HTML, CSS, Javascript, and related modern libraries & frameworks,
-
Strong SQL database experience (MYSQL, PostgreSQL, SQLite),
-
Outstanding written and verbal communications skills, with ability to explain technical design, concepts, and risks to both developers and non-developers,
-
Experience with developing Consumer facing applications (Web, Desktop, or both),
-
Experience with Agile and/or Lean software development.
It would be really cool if you had this as well:
-
Experience with Mac OS Development (Objective-C)
-
Experience in Kernel Level Driver Development (WDF and WDM)
-
Experience in Mobile Development (iOS or Android)
-
Experience working with USB and HID devices
-
Experience in developing or working with firmware
-
Knowledge of developing system services and device drivers
Our product technology ecosystem is huge – from hardware to firmware, kernel drivers to thick clients and all the way to web development and web services. Our software engineers will touch most or all aspects of the technology stack. You will be expected to help innovate, ideate, and build proof of concepts. You have an opportunity to help engineer our products – products that gamers use and love.
As a software engineer, you will be responsible for developing new features for the SteleSeries Engine (www.steelseries.com/engine) with a team of engineers, product designers and QA engineers.
If you were here the last few months, you would have worked on:
-
Reviewing and recommending a webkit plugin for desktop technologies
-
Investigating what we want our interprocess communication standard to be between our front end GUI and backend kernel processes
-
Developing keyboard and mouse emulation for PC/Mac for our SteelSeries Free Mobile Controller
-
Developing a back end C wrapper for our unannounced software product
-
Leveling your D3 character as fast as possible (Monk, Wizard, or Barbarian - your choice)
If you are here the next few months, you will:
-
Particpate in architecting what our next generation cross-platform GUI will look like
-
Start standardizing interfaces between business logic layer and kernel layers
-
Lead development of still-unannounced cutting edge project for our software platform - taking the created back end wrapper and integrating it with other solutions
-
Help define the technical architecture roadmap
